Three Turtle Species that are Endangered and What You Can Do to Help
It’s taken many years, but there are three specific types of turtles that are now endangered. As new laws are enacted, there is more protection for these reptiles, but in the meantime, there are some that may not make it very much longer.
The Abingdon Island Tortoise is the most endangered at all. There is only one left and he lives on the island with researchers. There was an extensive search for another turtle of this specied, but Lonesome George, as he is known is thought to be the only one left.
Lonesome Geroge is only one of Three Turtle Species that are Endangered. The leatherback turtle and the green sea turtle are also endangered. In order to keep these turtles and tortoises from becoming extinct, it’s important to pay attention to the new laws governing the hunting and fishing practices where these turtles are found.
